SAFA Cape Winelands hosted it’s Nedbank Cup this past weekend in Zwelethemba Stadium, Worcester. After the 18 team battle for the honours,it was City Killers and FC Malaga still standing after they beat Worcester Spurs and City Eleven Stars in the semifinals respectively. It was clear from the start why both teams reached the final, the showdown was nothing short of nail-biting moments and entertainment, living up to expectations.
Luthando Mpokotya found the back of the net which saw the Kayamnandi outfit going to half time leading. It was not long after the break that Killers equalized, making it anyone’s game with a possibility of going to penalties. In the last minutes of the game FC Malaga was in the lead again through Mthetheleli Yose, sending the green bench into frenzy. It was Bennett Hlalele’s final whistle that sealed the deal for FC Malaga.
Malaga will represent SAFA Cape Winelands in the inter regional Nedbank Cup playoffs this coming weekend.
